At the time I left a SPEEA-represented position to join Field Service, I didn't think much about it.  Once I was in the field, I quickly realized that I was at the mercy of the company. There was no predictability for raises and no accountability regarding arbitrary shifts in SRTs. Plus, benefits were disappearing one-by-one. It wasn't the capriciousness of Field Service management. What worried me were the policies driven down from above that did not take into consideration the unique circumstances of working in the field.

I'm glad to be back in a SPEEA-represented job. I know the union is there to check on arbitrary changes in policy that could affect me significantly.

About Us

We are Field Service Representatives working together to make sure all BCA FSRs have an opportunity to help decide to form a union and join SPEEA.  We are committed to getting or connecting every FSR with the information they need to make this important decision.  We have already had a lot of conversations with FSRs and know that there is support to move forward to signing authorization cards and towards securing guarantees in a contract.

Contact any of us listed if you want more information about the process, how you can help or with questions and concerns.

About SPEEA

The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), IFPTE Local 2001, is a professional aerospace labor union representing 24,100 engineers, technical workers and other professionals in the aerospace industry. Presently, our union represents employees at The Boeing Company, Spirit AeroSystems, BAE Systems and Triumph Composite Systems. Members work in Washington, Kansas, Oregon, Utah, Texas and California.

Formed in 1946, SPEEA is an affiliated local union of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE).

As a professional union, we negotiate contracts and provide representation to members at work and help them navigate workplace and benefit issues. Our union is a strong advocate for employee issues at work, with political leaders and in communities where members live.

The union is governed by an elected Executive Board and Council. Daily operations are handled by a professional staff directed and managed by Executive Director Ray Goforth. With union headquarters in Seattle, offices are also maintained in Everett, Washington and Wichita, Kansas.
